This crash is not limited to Thunderbird 3.x: Firefox 4.x hangs on startup while Seamonkey 2.x crashes on startup due to appmenu-gtk.
The affected seamonkey identifies itself as follows: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b4pre) Gecko/20100815 SeaMonkey/2.1a3pre Firefox 4.x: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b4pre) Gecko/20100816 Minefield/4.0b4pre Remove the appmenu-gtk package to restore these programs back to functionality.
