using elevator=cfq only gives a hal error. whatever.

Yeah, unsetting irqpoll messed up everything (i.e. booting default way).
My Network is not being recognized, I can see "error loading ibm_acpi" at 
startup. 
When restarting network, no cable networks are found.

Loading my Wireless driver/module "bmc43xx" and "acer_acpi" freezes my
laptop.

Just look at this and the following thread. Now you know why I enabled
irqpoll - dmesg told me. And it made life easier.

I re-enabled irqpoll (but not elevator=cfq) until it is solved. I really
need networking.
