1. Install the package linux-alsa-driver-modules-generic from the Ubuntu Audio Dev PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive, and reboot. 2. Open /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf in an editor, and add the following line at the bottom of the file. Once saved, reboot your system: options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 3. Again open /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, and adjust the line you recently added to show as follows.
