Public bug reported: Yesterday we got mysql-server-core-5.1.41-3ubuntu12.6 in the daily update. I noticed MythTV not working properly. "% $ status mysql" gave "stop/waiting" and "sudo start mysql" gave something like "restart failed" on the command line, though in fact it the daemon would start. I had a look at the release notes for this package and found some changes to apparmour and other stuff relating to the upstart script, after trying to figure it out I downgraded to mysql-server-core-5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3, which is what I had yesterday, and its working again.
I'm attaching log files. We got the upgrade on 6 aug and I downgraded at about 20:00 today (7 august). Hope this helps.
