Connecting two pcs via a crossover cable is pretty straightforward, and yes it
works. There's no bug here, so I'm closing this as a bug. What you need to do
is get some support setting this up. If you have access to IRC, you can ask in
#ubuntu on irc.freenode.org and someone will help you, if you ask nicely.
