I'm reading over these comments and to be honest, this goes beyond disappointment. Quite frankly, it would appear that 'Ubuntu' is no longer living up to it's name. I don't consider it at all people oriented to remove a usability feature like internet access for what is more than a small segment of users who have no choice but to use dial up modems. To suggest that ppoe and wireless broadband covers most use cases is just plain ignorant. Has anyone actually looked at any statistics before making this claim?! I think not! If they had, then they would know that they are in fact leaving out a rather large segment of users. You guys have taken several steps backwards when it comes to selling Ubuntu as a usable version of Linux for the common folk! If you want to push people back to Windows, mission accomplished. That is what you are doing. Wake up guys! Much of your target user base is oblivious to most of the 'under the hood' features of Linux that are better than Windows. All you have is usability and presentability to sell these users on Ubuntu, so taking a big chunk of that away for many users isn't going to win you any popularity contests. -- network manager doesn't support dial up modems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
