Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub

After doing a kernelupdate my manually configure menu.lst file is reset
to the default settings. My windows partion is normally the first boot
option. Every time I do a kernal update, I need to change my menu.lst.
Setting back windows as first boot option and removing the older kernels
out of the list. Isn't there a possibility to prevent this changes?

** Affects: grub (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
