This problem strikes randomly for me. When it happens, it's when my
laptop is running in battery mode and I shut the lid. My power
management setting is for it to do nothing but lock the screen but the
screen gets turned off sometimes and will not come back on when the lid
is opened. My only solution is to kill the power.

The problem with killing the power is that I am using the Ext4
filesystem, so when I reboot I get to see all of the orphaned inodes
possibly containing important data that was lost as a result of this
reboot. Losing data is not acceptable and I'm pretty pissed about this
bug.
