I really want viable alternatives to Windows. I believe that freedom is a good thing and that freedom depends on meaningful choice. Linux could be such a choice, but so far it has remained a minor niche product. Ubuntu once appeared to have the potential to be another viable alternative to Windows--but I obviously no longer feel that way.
