Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pm-utils-powersave-policy
The kernel's laptop-mode setting will attempt to conserve power by shutting down unused subsystems. Systems with laptop-mode enabled have significantly longer batter life. It should definitely be enabled on all laptops, and should probably even be enabled on desktop systems. Under Jaunty, the laptop-mode-tools package was responsible for setting the kernel's laptop-mode. It was disabled by default, but easy to enable. Under Lucid, laptop-mode-tools is no longer installed by default and has been replaced by pm-utils-powersave-policy, which does not offer a simple way to enable laptop-mode. This package should enable laptop- mode by default. The current state of laptop-mode can be queried with the command cat /proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode And can be set by writing to the same file. ** Affects: pm-utils-powersave-policy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- laptop-mode is not enabled by default, resulting in poor battery life https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610267 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
