I've tried everything i've read, but none seem to solve it.
Using Ubuntu without Compiz degrades the desktop from an usability perspective
to a Windows XP level.
I don't really care about cubes or anything (although they look nice) but the
expo and dragging windows to different views has become the ultimate way of
managing many windows which no other desktop environment can match.
What bothers me the most is not that things don't work, but that things that
worked perfectly fine a release ago are regressed to pretty much useless. This
is just not especially for a LTS release not exceptable.
Sorry for my somewhat biased reaction but this issue is open for 3
months now and it seems nobody tries to resolve it. It completely ruins
my Ubuntu experience on all my machines (All nvidia because of there
great Linux drivers).
