Thanks for taking the time to report a bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.

The goal I think is to provide reasonable support of VPNs in
NetworkManager, which is already largely achieved with the plugins in
universe as they are: they are pretty up to date (and a daily build is
available), and clearly downloadable if the event a user needs them.

If you have a use case in particular where a VPN other than pptp (which
is already in main, since required by a number of DSL users to connect
to the Internet) is clearly required, please open a separate bug,
affecting the plugin itself, so the issue can be looked into.
