Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-exe-thumbnailer
gnome-exe-thumbnailer is a UI-less script for showing the icons embedded in executable files. Without gnome-exe-thumbnailer, all Windows .exes show up as mysterious blue question mark diamonds without any clue as to their purpose or function. Integration of gnome-exe-thumbnailer into main (and part of the default install) is the first step of the karmic wine integration blueprint: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/karmic-wine-integration - while the first step of the blueprint, it functions as a nice usability enhancement of its own gnome-exe-thumbnailer depends on imagemagick and icoutils, two console programs with no translation or interface requirements In terms of file size, gnome-exe-thumbnailer is about 150k, imagemagick is 100k, and icoutils is 200k, for a combined CD impact of just under half a megabyte. In terms of upstreams, I am the personal upstream of gnome-exe- thumbnailer (I'll be adding it to winezeug soon: http://code.google.com/p/winezeug). imagemagick is an active project: http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php as is icoutils: http://www.nongnu.org/icoutils/ -- both have made releases this year. ** Affects: gnome-exe-thumbnailer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: icoutils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: imagemagick (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: imagemagick (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: icoutils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [MIR] gnome-exe-thumbnailer, imagemagick, icoutils https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/604477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
