Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.
In your case, we have no idea of what was incorrectly removed -- except for this specific bug (er, question). Looking at the 'DpkgTerminalLog' that was attached, at the end we can see: Processing triggers for software-center ... file does not exist: /usr/share/software- center/softwarecenter/apt/__init__.py file does not exist: /usr/share/software- center/softwarecenter/db/__init__.py file does not exist: /usr/share/software- center/softwarecenter/view/__init__.py file does not exist: /usr/share/software- center/softwarecenter/view/widgets/__init__.py pycentral: pycentral pkginstall: error byte-compiling files (50) pycentral pkginstall: error byte-compiling files (50) dpkg: error processing software-center (--unpack): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 So -- at least -- part of software-centre has been removed. A good bet is to try to uninstall software-center, and then reinstall it. But other packages may also be broken... A safe approach would be to forego on any such cleaning programmes. ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Converted to question: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+question/116860 ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Assignee: michael wentzell (mikewentz22) => (unassigned) -- package software-center 2.0.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598606 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
