@David Tombs: I'll be happy to file a new bug, but before that I'd like to add the following to make sure this really IS a separate bug (and sorry for not replying before, but I have been away from my computer for a month):
- Sandisk card reader mounted, with memory card in: 'Eject' unmounts the card's volume; - Sandisk card reader NOT mounted, CD/DVD in drive: 'Eject' correctly unmounts and expels disc (but doesn't close the tray on second press); - Sandisk card reader NOT mounted, no CD/DVD in drive: 'Eject' does nothing; -Sandisk card reader mounted, either before or after CD/DVD is inserted: 'Eject' always unmounts the card's volume; - Sandisk card reader connected WITHOUT a memory card, CD/DVD in drive: 'Eject' correctly unmounts and expels disc (but doesn't close the tray on second press). Sorry if this is a bit tedious. ;) My observation is that 'Eject' gives unmounting priority to USB volume, then CD/DVD, and if it doesn't find a mounted volume it does nothing (instead of opening the tray). Since pauls (the original reporter of this bug) just reported about not being able to open the CD tray, and manuarmata added that its Eject key works when a disk is inserted into the drive but fails otherwise, I'd like to ask them to try inserting an USB pen drive or hard disk and see what happens when the Eject key is pressed. This way we can determine if we have two bugs or just a single one.
