I tried to build a new kernel by following the instructions but I got no options on the kernel I would be using and the machine got a kernel panic so I had to rebuild from scratch. I guess I did something wrong!
I've just upgraded to the latest ubuntu kernel and am still getting the error. I have also tested the same dvd reader / writer on two other ubuntu installs with pretty much the same problem. But it still works fine on windows Here's the latest mich...@michael-desktop:~$ uname -a Linux michael-desktop 2.6.32-23-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 11 07:54:58 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux [ 517.896062] usb 1-7: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4 [ 518.035576] usb 1-7: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 518.154007] Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
