The initial kernel patch broke another laptop with eDP panel, so there is still some discussion on the mailing list about how to fix this. There is a version 2 of the patch out, but that didn't fix it on another computer which was fixed by version 1. I hope they sort it out soon, and then we can get a kernel with the final patch built for testing. Or if you feel like building kernels and testing, you can try both versions of the patch and report your findings on the mailing list (assuming it works with at least one of them).
