I have a D-Link WBR-2310 Wi-Fi router. My laptop is a Acer Aspire 5050
with the Atheros AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter.

I was unable to connect to it since I upgraded to Lucid. I tried
network-manager and wicd, I even did a fresh install... with no success.
Until I tweaked my router configuration.
Here is what proved to be successful to me.
On my router's wireless setup page, I enabled Extended Range Mode and 802.11g
Only Mode. (These are not enabled by default, and that was fine in Jaunty and
Karmic.)
Then from the moment my router restarted, I was automatically connected. Since,
it successfully and immediately connects each time I boot my laptop.
I hope this will help others.
