This solves the problem. Thanks.

Reading the manual of glibc (info libc) I see that it is 
documented on "Using the Library" -> "Feature Test Macros" . 

I have to confess that connecting "Feature Test Macros" to 
"Enable GNU C extension functions" is a big leap for me. 

In my oppinion it should be easier to find this info, but I 
have no sugestion how for now.  :P
