Public bug reported: I have dual Nvidia Quadro FX4800 PCIe cards installed. They both work perfectly until I install the AudioScience ASI5640 PCIe audio card.
Once I install the AudioScience audio card, the second video card drops offline, but the audio card works great. If I run "lspci | grep VGA" at the command prompt, I see the second video card on the PCI buss. But, when I run "nvidia-settings" the second graphics card does not show up. I blacklisted the Alsa "snd-asihpi" driver as well as the vendor supplied "asihpi" AudioScience driver. Added both of the following lines to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf blacklist asihpi blacklist snd-asihpi Upon reboot, both video cards were working well. Then I manually loaded the driver using "sudo modprobe snd-asihpi". Audio played after this as well. I then commented out the "snd-asihpi" driver from blacklist.conf and rebooted so that the "snd-asihpi" driver would load upon reboot. Audio played upon reboot but the second video card again stopped working again. Blacklisting both asihpi and snd-asihpi and manually loading the Alsa driver using "sudo modprobe snd-asihpi" cures the problem. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Second video card stops working when audio card is installed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
