I've been testing the system for eight hours without Chrome or Flash plugin. As I told, I had done a Catalyst 10.6 installation prior to the previous mentioned software here. I suspect that fglrx is causing all this trouble. I realized an hour ago that my dmesg log was full of SATA errors while the computer was idle. And the machine was error-free for 10 days, before I installed fglrx.
Sure that I feel like a fool giving fglrx another chance, as I always do (Patience is running out though, and I never will be buying ATI stuff again).
