@David Henningsson - Thanks for noticing that. I have provided Enrique with the standard alsa-base.conf file and we are back to sound through speakers only. Please feel free to recommend any module options that may also enable the speakers on this laptop.
@Daniel T Chen - Ubuntu Audio Dev PPA packages are installed. Could you recommend any module options that may also enable the speakers on this laptop.
