I get exactly the same behaviour once I have run a VM. After a reboor I can record to hearts content, as soon as I fire up a VM I get the same error.
Interestingly, if I try and record with FFMP, either on the host or in the VM I get an identical error. I tried Istanbul in both the vm and the host and get the same error. If I close the VM Istanbul still fails, and I need to reboot to get it to work again. -- Istanbul crashes whenever I stop recording.
