Public bug reported: In the Network Manager Applet, I can see listed the connection for my DSL provider in the list of Available Wired Networks.
However, if I select my DSL provider, it does not connect, and instead tries to use some other Wired connection profile or else hunt for an open wireless connection. I can get online by running pon dsl-provider, but I have to do this every time I restart or need to reconnect. And at this point the nm-applet reports "No network connection" when in fact I am connected. If one of my Wired Network Connection profiles happens allow it to Connect Automatically, then nm-applet reports it is connected to that wired network, and not the DSL provider. This problem started happening when I was running 9.10, and still persists under 10.04. I think I had tried to solve the problem once by adding the daily build network-manger ppa to my sources https://launchpad.net/~network- manager/+archive/trunk, which I think I learned about from this bug thread https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager- applet/+bug/255625 but now I have the lucid versions installed for all my network-manager packages.
