I had apache being reloaded every 6 minutes so I could rotate a log and parse it into a database. I realize this is much more frequent than apache is typically reloaded, but I wouldn't expect it to break apache. After about a week, it stopped responding and started logging "Cannot allocate memory" until apache was restarted. It was accepting connections, but wouldn't respond to any - HTTP requests and there were no child processes owner by www-data. I was + HTTP requests and there were no child processes owned by www-data. I was able to reproduce the problem in hardy, lucid, and maverick by reloading apache repeatedly. With mod_python enabled, I could reproduce the problem by reloading apache a few hundred times in a few minutes. When mod_python was disabled, I could not reproduce the problem. I attached the PHP script I used to reproduce the problem quickly and reliably.
