Hi, I have the same Problem with Ubuntu 10.04. It worked perfectly for me with Ubuntu 9.04, when I closed the lid it went into suspend, though It might have been a problem with hibernate, I don't remember though I did not use it and it is my girlfriends computer and she wanted to use suspend...
Anyway after a clan install of Ubuntu 10.04 from USB-stick( formated \ but not home, I had deleted all config files except .mozilla, .irssi, .moc) closing the lid does not work well. After a not succesful suspend by closing the lid the screen turns black for a second or so every 2 or 3 second as described above. It works to close the lid to get into suspend after a clean start or a restart. But if I start from suspended it will not work to close the lid and get suspended again. But if I use the menu and chose suspend it works to suspend... if I use the menu and chose suspend and then start it up again it will not work to close the lid. So after a succesfull suspend it will not work to close the lid but it will work to use the menu to suspend. And one more thing. When I have used the Suspend from the menu it will wake up but if I don't move the mouse it will never show up the login screen. But if I did a succesfull Suspend (after a clean start or restart) by closing the lid and then start the computer then I can first see the mouse on the screen and then does the login screen pop up, i.e. without me moving the mouse... I attach the kern.log and the messages log one pair when I had made a normal restart and one pair after a succesfull suspend. It is after thesuccesfull suspend it will not work. I have renamed the logs so you can see wich is what. ** Attachment added: "kern logs and message logs" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50076826/kernAndMessagesLog.tar.gz -- After closing and opening the lid on an HP Compaq nc4200 screen is turning on and off periodically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/471768 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
