The patch attached in this report has been rejected by upstream: "The approach of the patch is wrong because it forces Thunar to use *small* icons in the toolbar while most applications default to *big* toolbar icons. And it will be impossible to change the size globally."
However, please feel free to check the rest of the upstream comments and attempt to formulate another fix for this.
