i have the same problem.. my laptop is hs compaq presario v3000.. amd .. turion64 i guess.. my laptop is hot even when the lid is open .. not that much.. but when i leave it untouch it gets hotter and even hotter when i close the lid.. one thing that i saw happpen last two night is that when i woke up my computer was completely shutdown even though i had it on before i went to sleep.. was it because of overheat ? i dontknow.. but im worried.. i dont wana melt my laptop.. thanks
