Note, if I set the 'Connect server' (on the advanced tab) to: talk.google.com

I am successfully able to connect. I suspect that the Google Talk
protocol plugin for Pidgin should default this setting so that
individual users to not need to do this.

Setting the Connect server is also required for people using 'Google
Apps for Domains' with pidgin.
