Thanks for following up. Without the log files it's impossible to debug the problem - the crash dialog alone doesn't help much. That said, I think I'll have to reject this bug unless you can reproduce the error and attach the log files. The Buffer I/O problems you describe are indications of a faulty CD (burned too quickly or scratched).
The magazine cd is probably the "desktop" cd (not the alternate that you downloaded). You can install from the alternate though just fine - it usually turns out to be more reliable as well. After installation, my bets are that wireless will work (if it works with the LiveCD, it will work with an installed system).
