Public bug reported: In Kubuntu Netbook Edition 10.4 the application menus have been replaced by the Search and Launch plasma widget, but there does not appear to be an accessible replacement for the Menu editor functionality. Menu Editing functionality needs to be made available, both to allow repair of packages installed by synaptic that don't get added to the menus (I have submitted a separate bug report about that) and to support making 3rd pary apps accessible. (In the Moblin Remix, I was able to add my Readerware apps to the menus.
I would not mind manually editing the config files as a short term workaround if I could find them. The categories and applications that appear in SAL do not appear to be defined in either of the regular places (~/.kde/share/config or /usr/share/kde4/config) and if they are configured somewhere else in in /usr/share/kde4 tree, I have not been able to locate where. As a final note: while I was clicking around on the SAL screen trying to find a Menu editing option, I middle clicked twice. I now have two small yellow blocks at the bottom center of the screen that do not appear to be removable using the GUI.
