I'm still having an issue with this on a fully-updated Lucid system (the same one as in the original report). Touchpad works fine in GDM, works fine immediately after resume from suspend (for a second or so) then completely stops responding to touches. It had gone away for a while but has returned in the last couple of days. External mice work fine.
