I'll throw my own example in here: I wanted to write a quick script that
would pop up a "Touchpad enabled"/"Touchpad disabled" notification.  I
wasted an hour trying to find out how to change the notification's
duration to 1 or 2 seconds, and how to make it stop obscuring more
important notifications (like if I lose my connection to the wireless
network, etc.).

Then I found this bug report and discovered that those annoyances were
_intentional_.  What the hell?!
