actually, now I'm not sure this is gnome-vfs, after rereading the gnome bug report again, and testing in oo.org, it might actually be gedit. Looks like there was a bug in gnome-vfs which was fixed, but gedit is still buggy, sorry ;) I'll put it back to where it was first reported.
