This was reported as a bug in usbmount, but I don't see any traces of it
being used here.

These messages come directly from the Linux kernel and it indicates that
there is some problem with the kernel talking with the device. This
occurs much earlier than udev is called (which, in turn, calls
usbmount).
That is supposing that usbmount is even installed on the system.
