I cannot confirm the behavior you're describing. In case of duplicated applets, one of the icons has the expected behavior on click, but the other one is just not responding to any action. So, in the scenario of the attached screenshot, I can't access my wi-fi network manager, even by clicking on the spot it *should* be, one of the bluetooth icons is working but the other isn't doing anything, and same for the sound managr applet.
