Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal
On my Fujitsu P7010, it regularly (but unpredictably) happens that hal fails to obtain the "list of devices". I notice this because networkmanager stops working correctly and the machine does not want to go to sleep anymore (neither by closing the lid nor by doing it manually: since hal cannot figure out whether my machine can sleep, the option disappears from the "quit" dialog). When this situation occurs, a "lshal" gives me no output but a single error message, stating that it cannot obtain the list of devices. To make this even more bizarre: _sometimes_, after a while, "lshal" responds with the device list again, after which the whole system works again as normal. It happens more often, though, that I have to reboot the machine to get it back to a usable state. I _really_ would like to get this fixed, and am willing to do debugging on this side, but I have no idea where to start. Can someone please give me a hand? ** Affects: hal (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- hal cannot obtain list of devices https://launchpad.net/bugs/53984 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
