OK, this was a foobar, It can be closed.
The GB was switched back to MB and the hdb2 partition filled up.

Seems to me that Linux programs need a lot more polish on the gui entries.
1. They should not crash because of a "out of space" issue.
2. It should do checks for sanity, limits, reality.
3. The grub boot sector goes on the fisrt sector of the /boot partition (where 
ever that may be and there can be many), NOT on the mbr of the second or third 
or nn drive. hd(n,n)  NOT hd(n)

thanks for listening. Hope the gets polished up before Stage Coach and
Rifleman come out. (And Ubuntu 7.04)
