@Christian Qt in itself has nothing to do with Xine. KDE (or the Kubuntu team) has chosen Xine has its default Phonon backend, but Qt apps are not KDE apps. And Phonon is a crossplatform Qt module, not a KDE specific thing. I think this a common misconception rooted in the past. Qt apps today integrate really well on GNOME. And I, as an app developer, would like to target GNOME as much, if not even more, than KDE. Frankly, the Ubuntu user base is order of magnitude greater than Kubuntu's. So we have to take this in account.
Xine playback has always been a bit problematic, with video seeking not working at all and issues like the "X Error: BadMatch" like in the comment above. Currently the best experience is with GStreamer, so I'll keep recommending it to users. I'm no packaging expert. So I won't propose to depend directly on phonon-backend-gstreamer and the required gstreamer plugins. I believe there's something broken in "phonon" depending on the xine backend in a package repository that is mainly used by a GNOME-based distribution. -- minitube don't played the youtube movies, no sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559906 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
