I tried again, using the final 2.6.34 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.34-lucid/ and the intel driver 2.11 from ppa:glasen/intel-driver (with libdrm from ppa:glasen/libdrm).
