I am not really sure if it is the same bug for it seems to be irrelevant
of openoffice and happens to me even after uninstalling openoffice: the
indicator applet shutdown option (or restart) does only restart x
(without flashing up an office window mentioned above). And this happens
not always, only 2/3 of the cases. In these cases only a terminal
shutdown is an option, then the X-Login screen's "shutdown" buttons
right lower corner also do not do nothing. As I asked elsewhere, can
this be raletd to the HAL drop issue?

I found several different threads with this shutdown problem and am
still searching, so I found this page which seems to handle the same (?)
or similar (?) or brother (?) bug of my problem.

Thanks, Nathalie
