Lucky you.  I just so happen to have an HP DL165 G5 with an LSI SAS
3442E-R board (A.K.A. LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1068E PCI-Express
Fusion-MPT SAS controller) with SATA disks so I can tell you that this
issue most definitely was not fixed in Lucid.

I'm in the process of building the mpt modules patch described in here:

To see if the drive bug is really a data alignment issue.  I think it
could be DWord vs. QuadWord alignment.
