Can you also give some history information what has been done before you encountered this problem. That is,
1) Have you just upgraded your Ubuntu distribution to the new release when you noticed this problem? 2) Have you tried to boot from installation media (CD/DVD)? Do you see the same problem when booting from installation media? 3) Can you see the Ubuntu logo (spalsh) during boot or any text? Can you see the BIOS printout during first seconds when the computer starts?
