So far it appears not to be an issue in lucid; although, I am using the new
"User Settings" GUI which adds the users to the nopasswdlogin group.

In 9.10, I was using this line in /etc/pam.d/gdm
auth sufficient pam_listfile.so item=user sense=allow
file=/etc/gdm/nopassusers.txt onerr=fail
