Similar stuff here. Fresh instal of 10.04LTS. odd handling of DVDs . I get this message in dmesg on each burned DVD that works fine in other OSes and in a player: "end_request: I/O error, dev sr1, sector 9147640". I have anotehr DVD that plays fine, but when I try to rip it to disk, it hangs and drags the computer down horribly. Very frustrating. No problems in 9.10...
