Hi, Didier, I think the bug may indeed be the same, since after resorting back to Metacity (Visual effects: None) and relogging out and back in, the Ubuntu Netbook Edition session still has a Netbook launcher which is impossible to use because it's so slow, so I don't think it's anything to do with Compiz.
