So I have updated to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the problem persists. 10.4 LTS still identifies the Linksys WUSB 100v2 as device ID 1737:0078 Linksys, but will not operate the device.
I followed instructions in the Ubuntu forums to add the RT3070STA driver, which can then recognize the device, however it cannot connect to WPA2 WiFi. See all the specific data uploaded above. To get network connectivity, I ended up buying a 50ft cat5e cable to reach my nearest network device. I would still like to see this problem resolved as I think that improved support for common hardware (especially regarding networking) makes the switch to Ubuntu more practical for more users.
