I think I'm experiencing a similar problem. After upgrading from Ubuntu 9.10 tot 10.04 TB got also upgraded to version 3.0.4 (3.0.4+nobinonly-0ubuntu4).
When I started the new version of TB some items of TB did not display and the right pane holding the message list did not update when clicking other folders on the left pane. I tried to rename my old profile and let TB create a fresh one without success. Starting TB brings up the "Mail Account Setup" box and waits for more than a minute before displaying the text fields in the box, if i click one of the fields (Your Name, ...) the cursor shows in the field but i'm not able to type in anything... That's as far as it goes...
