Hi!
my notebook has the same wireless card/chip. I don't have the problem as you, 
but I also don't boot into windows (it's not here).
Since I found the workaround with module unloading I was never required to 
reboot the system to get wireless working.

with lucid, try using the notebooks wireless key + check the status with 
rfkill list all and maybe execute rfkill unblock all sometimes (always check 
the status with rfkill list after each operation).
