After fix for this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/linux/+bug/526354 has been committed and released, laptop properly goes into standby mode. However when trying to resume screen stays black (no backlight even). Sysrq keys work (the only way to reboot apart from pressing and holding power button). Switching to open driver fixes the problem, but due to the lack of PM with open driver, fan is blowing at full speed at most times ), with temps much higher than fglrx. (+noise). Sad, beacuse the open driver works better than fglrx (no tearing, better handling compiz).
